On 11 December 2025, the Commission adopted the Horizon Europe work programme 2026-2027.
The two-year work programme for “Widening participation and strengthening the European Research Area” (WIDERA) includes funding opportunities in two programme parts:
“Widening participation and spreading excellence” includes the following instruments: Teaming Synergies (2026), Twinning (2026), Research Management Facility (2026), Hop-on Facility (2026), ERA Fellowships (2026, 2027), EIC Pre-Accelerator (2027), ERA Chairs and Research Managers (2027), and Excellence Hubs (2027).
“Reforming and enhancing the European research and innovation system” includes two calls (2026 & 2027) with a total of 13 topics, comprising both coordination and support and research and innovation actions, designed to build knowledge and capacities at the level of institutions and ecosystems to adopt reforms and practices in line with the Pact for R&I and the ERA Policy Agenda (2025-2027). The 2026 call is open and closes on 12 March 2026.
