Cookie notice

To make this site work properly, we sometimes place small data files called cookies on your device. Most big websites do this too.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

How do we use cookies?

Cookies in ERA are used for either user experience enhancement or for collecting anonymous statistical data.

Experience enhancement cookies store user’s preference and information that improve the user’s visit by showing or hiding certain elements and make decisions that affect the site’s speed.

Statistical data is gathered for the purpose of detecting user trends and possible problems. This information help s the ERA team to plan future improvements.

All the cookies used in ERA are “First Party” cookies, this means they originate from ERA and all the information related to them is handled and stored either in ERA or by the EC network.

ERA does not use “Third Party” cookies that originate or use the data outside of the EC network (for Example Google).

Cookie types

Session – these are cookies that exist only for the duration of the visit. When the user is closing the browser these cookies are gone.

Persistent – these cookies have an expiration date and will stay in a file in the user’s computer until the expiration date is reached. Closing the browser will not delete these cookies but the browser can be used to delete them at any time (information on how to delete cookies).

Cookies used in ERA

Cookie name Type Expiration Description and purpose
popup_message_displayed Session Closing the browser ERA is conducting a survey from time to time and as a result a popup message will be displayed to all users every time they visit ERA. The user can close the popup and this will create this cookie which will tell the system not to display the popup message for the rest of the user’s visit in ERA. This cookie is intended to enhance the user’s experience and is not essential for the functionality of the site. This cookie does not require user’s consent.
has_js Session Closing the browser Some elements of the site need Javascript in order to function. The system is using this cookie to identify if the user has Javascript enabled or not and will adapt accordingly. This cookie is essential for the functionality of the site and since it is a first party session cookie, it does not require user’s consent.
era_stick_to_https Session Closing the browser This cookie is responsible to keep the communication between your browser and ERA encrypted. This cookie does not require user’s consent.
_pk_ses.49.97b2 Persistent 30 days These 3 cookies are being used by Europa Analytics (PIWIK) for gathering statistical data. These cookies are not essential for the ERA to function but the gathered statistical data is being used for improving ERA. These cookies require user’s consent and the user can decide to block them. See the section “How to control cookies” below.
_pk_id.49.97b2 Persistent 13 months
_pk_ref.49.97b2 Persistent 6 months
aucp13n Persistent 12 hours In order to increase website performance ERA is using caching. One of the caching mechanisms is called Authcache and is intended for authenticated users. Authcache needs this cookie in order to function. This cookie is not essential for the functionality of the website but is needed for better performance. It does not require user’s consent.
Drupal.tableDrag.showWeight Persistent 12 months This cookie helps with tables operations in the back-end. It will be installed depending on the user’s role and permissions, so not every user visiting ERA will receive it. This cookie require user’s consent and the user can decide to block it. See the section “How to control cookies” below.
