On 1 July, Hungary takes over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union for six months. Amongst the seven priorities Hungary has defined for the next months, 'Improving the competitiveness of the EU (New European Competitiveness Deal)' features prominently. Notably, this priority will address the fragmentation of the European Research and Innovation Area. Council Conclusions on strenghtening the competitivevess of the EU and overcoming the fragmentation of the European Research Area based on the experiences of the implementation of the ERA Policy Agenda (2022-2024) can be expected in late Autumn.
